NEWS & STORIES

Stay tuned for full interviews!

Tony Hall: Gary, why the change from DTM racing to Formula E? There is such a big difference isn’t there?

Gary Paffett: Yes, there is, but the thing that made me do it is that Mercedes is pulling out of DTM and I have been with them so long. So when I heard they would be involved in Formula E I thought about it. I really did not want to start racing with another team in DTM even though I love DTM. Then when I had the chance to test drive a Formula E car in Marrakesh, I thought about it a lot more. I knew Mercedes were coming into Formula E next year so when I got offerered a drive with HWA I took it.

TH: Felipe, do you own an electric car?

Felipe Massa (with a smile he replied): No.

TH: How do you rate Formula One today?

Pedro de la Rosa: Formula One will always be Formula One. It is a fantastic series that I have been in love with for many years. People can criticize it and it is true it is going through a difficult period in terms of the world is changing very rapidly so Formula One also has to change but that does not mean it has lost its appeal. Formula E is different and that is what makes it interesting for me. Formula E is a very different series, it has its own personality and to grow bigger and possibly be like Formula One, why not? It is very important to do something that makes you learn everyday and Formula E is teaching me a lot of new things.

TH: Stoffel, quick change of race seats from McLaren to HWA for this Formula E pre-season testing. So what can you tell us about your experience so far?

Stoffel Vandoorne: I am very excited to be here in the Formula E series with HWA. Obviously for both of us we are new to this series but between us we have a lot of experience so I am looking forward to this new adventure in my career and especially with the new generation Formula E car.

TH: Fernando Alonso – there are some in Formula One who say he can be difficult to work with, how have you personally got along with him as a team-mate?

Stoffel Vandoorne: I have a good relationship with Fernando. I have worked with him for a few years, firstly as a reserve driver at McLaren and then two years as a race driver. He is obviously one of the biggest talents in Formula One and everyone knows his qualities. Yes, I got on well with him and we had some good times.
