Time to break out the Tweed…. Goodwood Revival here I come, Guest Post by Ian Skelton

NEWS & STORIES

It’s been an interesting few weeks since my visit to the Silverstone Classic to shoot the Historic car racing. This has lead to the opportunity for another first for me & a visit to the famous Goodwood Revival Meeting.

My photo collection from the Silverstone Classic seems to have gone down really well. I’ve had some print sales & requests to share images on some of the driver’s social media sites. It’s always nice to know how much other people like my photos. So it was great when I got a call from Mark at Spindrift Media, with the chance of another shoot. A media colleague from Portugal had been in contact with him. Their photographer had been called away & was now unable to cover an event….. did he know a photographer?!!?! “It just so happens I do….take a look at his website” was his reply!

I’m thrilled to now be shooting the Goodwood Revival for the only Iberian based website covering the event, iberianmph.com & their media partner, Spain’s One Magazine.

Goodwood Revival Meeting (9th -11th Sept)

This fantastic event shares a lot with the Silverstone Classic. Flat out wheel-to-wheel racing on the track with hundreds of rare and priceless cars, from historic yesteryear of motorsport. What sets it apart is the period dress worn by the vast majority of the spectating crowds. Ladies in their furs and frocks, gentlemen in their tweeds and trilbies all help to create the uniquely stylish atmosphere that sets the Revival apart from all other motor racing events. It is quite simply a photographer’s dream both on & off the track, I can hardly wait…. but wait I will have to because the week before I have another appointment with some beautiful machinery!!

Windsor Concourse of Elegance (2nd – 4th Sept)

Held within the glorious grounds of Windsor Castle, The Concours of Elegance will once again bring together a selection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world. Many of which will never have been seen before in the UK. The 3 day event begins on Friday with the ‘Grand Arrival’ as these fantastic cars drive up the Long Walk to take their place inside the castle quadrangle. Saturday sees cars from the Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, Bentley and Rolls-Royce owners’ clubs, arrive & park along the long walk on public display. Sunday concludes with the sight & not forgetting the sound of those 60 classic engines firing up before making their way back down the spectacular Long Walk.

The Nikons will certainly be kept busy on these 6 fantastic days of Motoring History …
