Nascar Whelen Euro Series
09 Apr 2017
Interview with Borja García, car #1, Team Alex Caffi Motorsport
Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia
Tony: Borja, you are doing Euro Nascar, why?
Borja García: Why, it is quite simple to find a budget to race as it is really difficult now and I have this opportunity with the team. Also for Jérôme (Galpin – President and CEO NWES) the promoter of the championship and also my team-mate Carmen (Boix Gil) to race here. The other big, big thing for me especially is the prize for the winning of the championship as the winner of the title gets to test in the USA with a real NASCAR.
Tony: Throughout your career in motor racing which part do you think is the highlight?
Borja: The highlight, I think, was GP2 but also I was the third driver for Toyota Formula One in 2005. For me this was a dream to drive a real Formula One car, yes for me – the best.
Tony: Your views on Formula One today, too political or what?
Borja: Well, I want to see what happens in the race today (Chinese GP in Shanghai) but for me yes, too political, far too much.
Tony: What are your thoughts for your race today, especially as you won yesterday’s race?
Borja: Today I think it will be more difficult than yesterday because I started on the front row in pole and today I start on the second row in third. It will depend on the start because the two guys in front of me yesterday had problems so I will try to make a good start and get in front and take the most points possible for the championship.
Tony: Thank you Borja and good luck with your race today.
Borja: Thank you.
