RF1 Team – Blue and Orange Years (Part 1)

NEWS & STORIES, PICS

I decided to put together a small compilation of RF1 photos dating from 2007-2009 to celebrate the blue and orange period, which I know not that many people would want to celebrate anyway (check out the gallery below). I personally never felt bad about the mad liveries of those years, they were colourful and very van Gogh, if you ask me; they had a bit of everything in them and were guaranteed to stand out on the track. For instance, I don’t like McLaren’s silver combined with Vodafone’s red because it feels totally kitsch, so horses for courses… I’m sure in 20 years time the ING-inspired RF1 livery will be remembered as one of the best in Formula 1.

Of course, there were a few controversies involving the team and its drivers, but where would F1 be without controversy? It’s always been like that: Suzuka 1990, Adelaide 1994, Jerez 1997, Spa 2008, to name just a few off the top of my head. Ferrari vs. Toyota or Ferrari vs. McLaren spy scandals, team orders… You can’t rewrite motorsport’s history books, all you can do is learn from your mistakes.

Also, a big thank you must go the guys (who were) in charge of the RF1 team blog; I think both Messrs BL and WH have really influenced my views on the sport in general and taught me a lot about Formula 1. It was a great overall experience.

Blue and Orange forever!!!
