PS It’s always a pleasure to catch a bit of WRC in Lisbon, I got sunburnt and paranoid and pictures just kept on occupying memory card’s space. I sometimes find it hard to believe how open and fan-friendly WRC is compared to Formula 1 – you can almost touch the cars, it’s easy to take a photo with the driver or have a quick chat with him/her. The cars make more noise than F1 V6 power units simply because they have proper engines under the bonnet. WRC is lot’s of fun for me but obviously there’s a lot of pressure for the guys who have to drive these amazing beasts on tricky roads of the Algarve region down south. I was on a mission to take a few pics of Kubica’s car while it’s still intact and in one piece, I made it! Make no mistake though, Robert is going to be strong once he gets to grips with WRC way of life, this dude is damn fast. They got a very colourful mix of drivers and teams in the WRC, much more attractive than in closed circuit racing: you have nice looking Hyundai cars with moody Neuville, Sordo and Hanninen trio (in Portugal); calm Finn Latvala and world champ Ogier, VW boys who just keep on winning everything; M-Sport Fiestas look stunning in their blue 2014 livery and Mikko is finally back in blue; Citroen are having a tough time without Loeb, still we saw some impressive performances from Mads or DJ Mad-S as I like to call him. Then my personal hero Henning Solberg decides to make a shock comeback in Portugal – Portuguese delight, pastéis de Belém on wheels! Add some WRC2 coffee, WRC3 cream and Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy sugar! I’m in WRC heaven!!!
