GP3: Fave Memories

With GP3 now becoming a thing of the past and its current machinery morphing peacefully into the new look FIA Formula 3 plus the ZZ Top rear wing and a baby HALO, we thought we’d go through our archive and choose our fave GP3 moments from the past.

One such moment would be witnessing Charles Leclerc’s first test appearance with ART in Estoril in spring of 2016. ART are more secretive than Ferrari in many ways, nice chaps – both of course, they just love to literally shut the garage door in your face when you finished setting up your camera for a great effing shot and stuff, if you pardon my French.

Very dehumanizing.

Plust ART are fans of bad French pop and terrible disco, sounds worse than F1 hybrids to me.

Anyway enough of that, Leclerc had a different body language thus immediately separating him from the rest of the pack in my opinion. His team-mates that year weren’t too slow either: Toro Rosso’s Alex Albon (ouch! Helmut brought back two Red Bull rejects [hallo Kvyat] back to their mothership!) and the eternal Formula 2 sub pop hero, classic racing shortie de Vries.

GP3 was a funny category: always very strong in terms of driver and team material, well, 99% at least. But you somehow knew most of these kids might end up nowhere and only a few would go on to better things.

Only the fittest survive: that’s the nature of racing and that’s why we love competition!
